RE: Entry Level Production Position

Dear Roxanne Elliott,

I wanted to thank you for including me in the second process of hiring a new candidate for FlakeBoard. I interviewed with three gentlemen and felt the interview went well and they received a good impression of my work ethics. It was a pleasant experience and they had a good sense of humor it was very relaxed and enjoyable. They explained the exact position and it’s duties. I found that the work most agreeable to me, to work with a maintenance person learning how to maintain the equipment would be an excellent fit for me.

The time flew by and the interview came to an end after forty-five minutes. Because the time flew by so fast I did get to disclose about a past felony record of almost twenty years ago.

When you do a background checks I know it would be there and I never try and hide anything from my past mistakes, I’m not sure of Flakeboard’s policy on hiring people with a past record. All I can tell you is I learned from my past mistake. I take full responsibly for my past behavior even though what took place was just for one second on my part I am no way mitigating it. In 1995 Measure 11 had just passed and what took place for one second or one year it didn’t make any difference , the time you served would be the same. I had no previous record before this and I did what was required of me and made the best of it. I kept working within the organization, I learned so much about myself and what lead me to the thinking errors I had made and how it lead me to where I was at. What happened long ago does not define who I am today. A much better person who has brought a house, raised my credit from zero to 725, paid off a newer truck, bought a 2013 Hyundai Veloster. I’m in a new relationship sharing our life together and doing well.

I believe America is a nation of second chances but sometimes we let our own prejudices about a individual or group of people interfere with what you think you know. All too often, hiring decisions are made more on the basis of such prejudices than on applicants’ knowledge, skill, or willingness to do or learn. I thank you for your valued time on this expression of my utmost interest to be able to work for Flakeboard. I want you to know if you did hire me I would work hard to prove to you that it was a good decision and never let you down.
