Private School Teacher Resume Questions
The best resumes are always easy to skim quickly. As hiring managers typically spend only six seconds perusing resumes, clarity and readability are key. As shown in our private school teacher resume sample, a clean format with short sections and bulleted lists provides maximum impact.
Start with your name and contact information, followed by a summary statement. Next, list your skills and qualifications with six to eight bullet points. Then, put work experience in reverse chronological order with five or six bullet points for each position. Finish up with your education, also in reverse chronological order. Include your degree, the name and location of the granting institution, and any honors you received.
It is no longer necessary to put references on a resume. Take a look at our private school teacher resume sample for comparison. On occasion, a job description will specifically ask for references. In that case, add them to the bottom after the education section. This is no longer typical, however, and listing them can look unprofessional. Do not include the phrase "references available upon request," either. Hiring managers assume that you have them and will bring them to the interview.
It's a great idea to show that you are tech savvy as technology is now a huge part of nearly every profession. You can do this under your skills and qualifications section by mentioning software in which you have proficiency or computer programming languages you can use.
As you can see from our private school teacher resume sample, you can also bring technology into the work experience section. Did you help your students win a robotics competition? Did you use an online program for maintaining student records? Items like these can and should be bullet points included here.
For a first job resume, reorganize the sections a bit. After your name and contact information, put your education section. Then, list qualifications and skills, followed by work experience. Mention anything relevant to education, such as summer camp jobs, internships, and student teaching. Be sure to include soft skills such as organization, communication, and creativity to give a more complete picture of what you can do.
First job resumes can be a little intimidating. Study our private school teacher resume sample, or try our resume builder for experienced help in creating this important document.
Put your full name, no nicknames, first in your resume header, as in our private school teacher resume sample. Follow this with your address, phone number, and email address. Do not use current work contact information. Use your private address, or get a post office box. Make sure your email address is professional. You can include professional websites and social media sites here as well, but they must reflect the image you want to convey.

How to Employ the Job Description in Your Private School Teacher CV
After checking out our private school teacher cv template, you need to put the finishing touches on your own CV. Each school has its own educational philosophy and approach to classroom teaching. While first and foremost, schools look for talented and committed educators, they also want teachers who will fit into their current culture and work well with other staff and with parents. Reading the job description carefully should give you a good idea of the school’s approach, allowing you to tailor your CV and highlight the qualities that make you a good fit for this particular environment.
An additional way to show your credentials match the employer’s requirements is to include key terms from the job description in your CV. Since the job description here indicates a preference for a teaching certificate, the candidate in our private school teacher cv template made sure to state his possession of a certificate. He may choose to leave it off when applying to a different sort of school, as not all private schools require or care about teaching certificates.
